Summer shows!

We have been very busy over the summer season here at Cathy’s Vintage Interiors. You may have seen from our Instagram posts that we exhibited at the Liskeard Show in the Homes and Gardens marquee, taking a lovely eclectic mix of country style furniture, garden furniture and upholstery. We were surprised and delighted to be awarded with a rosette for our display as this was our first time there.
We met lovely people and got a fantastic response from the show visitors.
The next show on the very near horizon is the Antique, Vintage and Collectors Fair at the Wadebridge Showground, Cornwall on August Bank Holiday weekend – Saturday, 24th August and Sunday, 25th August.
This time we are exhibiting outside so fingers crossed for some good weather! We love meeting our customers and giving them an opportunity to see our lovely furniture up close. Please come along and see us if you are able to do so.

Happy Easter!

We are just back from an amazing Easter weekend at the Cornwall Antiques Fair at Wadebridge. This was our first time exhibiting at an antiques fair and we could not have had a better introduction. The weather was absolutely glorious, hot and sunny throughout so plenty of ice cream was eaten by all!! There was also filming of “Bargain Hunt” taking place which seemed to cause a stir!
We met so many people who loved the furniture and appreciated the variety of items on offer. The painted children’s furniture and signature pieces such as the romantic cabinet were especially well received. It was great to hear so many positive comments from visitors that inspire us even more to keep producing the work we do.
We had a great time, exceeded our expectations with the sales completed and made many contacts, meeting customers who have asked for specific items they wish us to source for them. The French armoire that was a real “show stopper” and generated so much interest. It was quickly snapped up, as was the large footstool and long bench seat upholstered in the beautiful bird and branch fabric.
We also showcased some of our skills during the event by painting furniture and demonstrating some caning work, which went down very well.
As a result we have many new ideas, some suggested by visitors, for the future. We are just about to move into a new workshop in a beautiful rural location and hope to run some workshops from there soon, such was the interest in what we do.
We now have a busy few days delivering the furniture sold at the event so no time to rest just yet.
It only remains to wish you all a very Happy Easter and hope you continue to enjoy the beautiful weather at the moment!

Spring is coming to Cathy’s Vintage Grays!

Spring is coming to Cathy’s Vintage Grays!

It’s been such a busy February and March that I suddenly realised I haven’t posted for nearly two whole months!
We have been hard at work in the workshop with lots of new stock arriving every week so it’s been a juggling act as to what to tackle first and plenty of multi-tasking has been evident! On one day we were so intent on the various jobs being undertaken in the workshop that we didn’t even notice the snow was falling outside!!
We are just so enthusiastic as there has been so much interest and positive feedback from everyone.
We are now taking painting commissions again and if you have a specific piece of furniture that you are looking for then please let us know so that we can try to find exactly what you need. We are also busy restoring furniture and have begun an upholstery service – more about that next month!
Now that the milder weather seems to have arrived here in Cornwall we are moving back into the Summer workshop and have been busy giving it a facelift so that it is ship shape and Bristol fashion for the projects we have planned this year. We think it looks fantastic and feel we are so lucky to have such a beautiful workplace, what do you think?
As mentioned in the last post we have some lovely new pieces that we are now about to offer for sale including an exquisite French armoire painted in a subtle Farrow and Ball “Purbeck Stone” eggshell and a grand French double bed now updated with an Annie Sloan “French Linen” finished with wax techniques.
Today we have also launched our Easter Sale with many of our items reduced – please have a look before these bargains disappear.
Finally please come see us at the Cornwall Showground at Wadebridge over the Easter weekend on Friday, 19th April and Saturday, 20th April where we have a stall showcasing some of our work. We are really looking forward to our first antique and collectors fair and hope this will be the first of many.

Launch Of Our New Website

Launch Of Our New Website

We are delighted to announce the launch of our new website. Having aimed to have opened during the summer months, we were unable to do so. Sadly our beautiful Cathy who has been our inspiration behind this, passed away.

Cathy lives on in our hearts and we will continue her vision of preserving beautiful furniture, remembering the encouragement she always gave us. RIP Cathy. We have carefully selected items that Cathy and John would have admired and no doubt would have been delighted to see transformed. We look to the future and hope that you join us on this journey and enjoy the forthcoming projects.

We hope to cater for a wide range of taste and styles so with that in mind we have added some additional categories.

Coming soon:

Cathy’s wild card – quirky items
Mister Smiths Choice – unpainted items for those who prefer the beauty of natural wood
The Adorables – Fun hand painted Children’s Furniture

We are busy in the workshop transforming items for our customers. Please keep an eye on our blog for items coming soon including beds and larger pieces. Please contact us if there is a particular item of furniture that you would like sourced for transformation.

Best wishes to all
